Floral Aroma and Savory Depth from Brown Sugar
Made with far more brown sugar than conventional brown sugar shochu, this Sato no Akebono spirit is matured slowly over a long period, bringing out the floral aroma and savory depth that develop as the brown sugar ferments. It is a bottling our brewers take real pride in. Enjoy it straight, and taste the fragrance and richness that the nature and culture of Amami have drawn out.
Serve It in a Way That Lets the Aroma Speak
What sets this undiluted spirit apart is, above all, its floral aroma and savory depth. Bartenders recommend starting with a partial shot: chilled until thick and viscous, it slips down the throat and leaves a crisp finish on the palate. The other serve we recommend is the twice-up, which draws out aromas and flavors that stay hidden when the spirit is served straight, and offers a quite different appeal. Take your time with the aroma that only an undiluted spirit can give.
* A twice-up, a serve well known in the whisky world, means mixing the spirit with room-temperature water in equal parts. The name comes from "twice" the volume and "straight up," without ice.
