Amami Brown Sugar Shochu
三年貯蔵 奄美の杜
From our label series featuring the work of Isson Tanaka, the solitary painter who loved Amami.
The label carries "Red-Backed Kingfisher by the Early Summer Sea," one of Isson Tanaka's best-known works, in which the kingfisher that announces the arrival of summer in Amami is set against dense subtropical foliage. Enjoy the rich, fragrant character that comes only from spirit aged a full three years, alongside the Amami that Isson captured on canvas.

A Freshness with Broad Appeal
Made entirely from spirit aged for three years, then carefully refined into a clean bottling free of any harshness. The flavor and body distinctive to Sato no Akebono remain, while the additional years of maturation give the aroma greater richness. The result is a deeper, more layered character that sets it apart from Sato no Akebono itself.
Isson Tanaka, the Solitary Painter Who Loved Amami
Isson Tanaka moved to Amami in his fifties and lived, painted and died there. The abundant nature, the creatures and the landscapes of the island that he rendered through his singular vision continue to captivate people to this day. For this label we chose "Red-Backed Kingfisher by the Early Summer Sea," among the most loved of his works. We hope it invites you to take your time, and to let your thoughts turn to the nature and culture of Amami.
It Sparkles, It Opens Up: The Aroma of Brown Sugar
Mix Amami no Mori with sparkling water and its crispness and bright aroma come through more vividly still, filling the whole palate. We named this highball the "Amami Hana Hana Highball," after "hana hana," the word people in Amami exchange when raising a toast.
