The Last Spirit Ever Made at Ishihara Shuzo
The final brown sugar shochu produced at Ishihara Shuzo, our predecessor. Since we took this spirit into our care, thirty-six years have passed in our warehouse. Distinctive from the start, having been made by the old methods, it has continued to mature over those years, gaining ever more depth of flavor.
The Depth That Only Time Can Bring
More than thirty years have pared away the roughness of Suminoye, shaping a flavor that is round and fully matured, yet still vivid. On the palate it opens with a green, grassy aroma that recalls sugarcane, giving an impression of freshness. A weighty, earthy texture wraps the tongue, and the finish is long and sweet. Layer upon layer, it is a depth that earns the name of a rare spirit. We recommend it straight or on the rocks.
A One-of-a-Kind Label Colored by Amami's Traditional Plant Dyeing
The label is made from handmade washi paper crafted from material dyed by kusakizome, the plant-dyeing technique practiced in Amami Oshima since ancient times. Each one is the work of an artisan's hands, so no two are alike. Enjoy a rare spirit that can no longer be made, together with a label that exists only once.
